Travel Coordinator for Africa-based team | 5-6 month role | Remote | Working Hours are GMT +2-4 | Public Health Non-Profit


Our client is looking for an experienced Travel Coordinator for a long term (approximately 5-6 month) temporary assignment. The role is 30-40 hours per week. This is a global team mostly based in Africa and they work 4-6 hours ahead of NYC – they need someone who can overlap with them for at least a few hours per day and who has flexibility to adjust their schedule as needed (for example, if more support is needed in a time zone 6 hours ahead one day, work those hours as needed). Will provide a laptop, but candidates must be able to use their own phone.

The client is a public health non-profit and this role supports a team of 8 with their travel and travel related work (expenses, payments, etc). Candidates must (1) have previous experience booking and coordinating international travel (preferably in Africa), and (2) be available to work and adjust their schedule to work in a variety of time zones (GMT, WAT, CAT, and EAT).

Job Duties:

● Schedule and manage travel arrangements for a team of 8 people (mentors and mentees), including completing travel requests, booking air travel, book hotels and accommodation, and any other travel related requirements. They use a travel service, however they don’t have a lot of coverage in Africa so need someone to do the research. They also do not have emergency travel change coverage so this role will cover that.

● Update and manage receipts and records for monthly expense reports (Concur).

● Supports the team by processing invoices for mentees and consultants. Payments are paid through Concur or corporate credit card

● Supports meeting planning including processing of vendor invoices, supporting attendee travel arrangements

● Perform any general administrative duties as may be needed by the team

 

Skills and Qualifications:

● Previous travel planning experience required. Preference given to experience with planning in Africa.

● Want someone who enjoys this type of planning and who understands the team may need some hand-holding/support. Someone flexible and organized.

● Everyone is super mission-driven and there are no small tasks at the organization – this is all part of the whole of the good work they do.

Compensation: $32-$35/hr.
