Controller | Onsite | Direct Hire | Port Washington, NY
TSS is partnering with a healthcare distribution center to hire a full-time, onsite Controller for a permanent position in Port Washington, NY.
This company is experiencing growth and adding to its accounting team of 10! In this new leadership role, the Controller will supervise a Pricing Lead and Accounting Lead and report to the C.O.O. You will be a key financial leader responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance of the company. You will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, manage audits, and support strategic financial planning in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting:
Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Manage the general ledger, AR/AP, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
Lead monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations including DEA, FDA, and DSCSA.
Coordinate with external auditors and manage all audit and tax compliance activities.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop standardized processes and policies to improve operational efficiency and financial transparency.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Partner with FP&A to lead annual budgeting and long-range forecasting processes.
Analyze financial results and provide insights to the CFO and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Systems & Process Improvement:
Drive automation and systems enhancements to streamline accounting operations.
Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools that support scalability and reporting efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior finance leadership role.
5+ years of proficiency with NetSuite or other ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX).
Experience in distribution or manufacturing is highly preferred since inventory accounting is required.
Demonstrated experience managing audits and working with external accounting firms.
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $160,000-$185,000yr DOE. Health benefits include: Medical, Vision, and Dental, PTO, paid sick leave, paid holidays, free parking, and more!
