Payroll/HR Accountant | Full Time | Onsite | Temp-to-hire
Temporary Staffing + Search is conducting a search for a Payroll/HR Accountant for our client, This is a full-time, temp-to-hire, onsite role located in Manhattan, NY. This role will convert to permanent very quickly.
The Payroll/HR Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing payroll and HR-related accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. Initially focusing on payroll, the role will evolve to encompass broader accounting responsibilities, supporting the company’s financial operations across various business entities. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 10am-6pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & HR Administration (Primary Focus):
Payroll Management: Oversee and manage the entire payroll process for all company employees, up to 250 during certain times of the year, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legal requirements.
Benefits Administration: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee health benefits, including setup, management, and troubleshooting for full-time employees.
Employee Onboarding: Facilitate new hire orientation, including setup in the payroll processing system (Paycom), and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
Employee Benefits Tracking: Maintain accurate records of vacation, sick days, and other benefit entitlements.
Background Checks: Conduct background checks for potential drivers and other roles as required.
Policy Management: Oversee the maintenance and regular updates of the Employee Manual to reflect current policies and procedures.
Verification Requests: Prepare and manage employment verification letters and other employee-related notifications.
Accounting Responsibilities (Evolving Focus):
Bank Reconciliations: Import and reconcile bank transactions for the real estate division using QuickBooks, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Property Management Accounting: Record and reconcile real estate transactions using reports from the property management company.
Payment Coordination: Collaborate with the property management company to coordinate payment activities and transactions.
General Accounting Support: Initiate and record payments for other business and personal accounts, maintaining accurate financial records.
Financial Oversight: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, analysis, and budgeting as the role expands.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in payroll administration and accounting.
2+ years of human resources administration.
Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., Paycom) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments.
Prior experience in real estate accounting or working with property management companies is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The hourly pay range for this role is between $48-$50hr. Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, Holiday pay, and cell phone allowance are part of the benefits you will receive upon conversion.
